Parkhill Station History

The Parkhill Fire Company, as it was first known, started up in
1862 with all available persons required to help fight fires. There were no
hydrants in town nor a siren, so if a fire was noticed, then someone would
have to run to the Town Hall and ring the bell until people started to
arrive. Someone would then have to stoke up the steam engine before
they could go to the fire.
Over the years we have had a horse drawn
steam engine, a 1926 LaFrance, a 1946 LaFrance, a 1962 LaFrance to the present day 1982 King Seagrave pumper, a 4000 gallon Mack tanker and a heavy duty Rescue Unit.
